Design and Synthesis of Anti-Osteoporotic agents
Osteoporosis is a global problem, especially associated with women. In India the estimated osteoporotic related fracture cases are in range of 50 million per year. Our
designed New Chemical Entity “CENTHANK” CDRI-99/373 is a promising alternative option in the prevention and treatment of
osteoporosis. CENTHANK is an orally active and has advantage over the existing clinically used drugs like Raloxifene and
Bisphoaphonates in terms of its efficacy as well as toxicity. Cost-effective due to “one pot synthesis” protocol.
CENTHANK /CDRI-99/373 is currently in Phase-I Clinical Trial
Design and Synthesis of Anti-cancer agents
Our designed, novel synthetic compound S007-1235 is identified as a robust lead anti-cancer agent for drug development. The design is based on commonality of tyrosine
kinase inhibiting scaffolds that are either drugs or are currently in clinical trials using Hinge region modification. S007-1235 displayed robust cytotoxicity in
cancer cells and promising in vivo efficacy in xenograft mouse model. Inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in chronic myelogenous leukemia patient samples
with higher efficacy than marketed drugs Imatinib and Dasatinib. S007-1235 robustly reduced CD133+ colon and ALDH+ breast cancer stem cell population.
Chemical Approach to Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine
Stem cell research and Regenerative medicine is an a nascent research area with immense therapeutic future. Our focus is on development of Chemical Approach to Stem
cell and Regenerative Medicine in collaboration with CSIR-IIIM and CCMB. Interestingly, a series of our designed compounds are exhibiting promising stem cell
modulatory activity.
