Plasmodium falciparum has evolved a very efficient protein quality control machinary to protect its aggregation prone proteome from various environmental stress during its lifecycle. So I am working on the HSP40 family, which is a co-chaperone of HSP70. Plasmodium falciparum parasite has 43 types of HSP40 which are localized in different cellular compartments (cytosolic, nucleus, mitochondrial, apicoplast) and some are even exported into host red blood cells. I am using biochemical, cellular and structural approaches to investigate the biological roles of representative HSP40s in human malaria parasite.

I am a trained kathak dancer and it helps me to connect with science……

Telomerase enzyme helps maintain the telomeric length during successive cell divisions. Plasmodium falciparum telomerase and its RNA component is 2.5-3 times bigger and has diverged from human telomerase. I am interested to investigate the telomeric and extra-telomeric roles of Pf-telomerase.

I like traveling, meeting new people and listening to their life stories…..
