International Students / Researchers

Over the years, the institute has hosted several foreign researchers visiting under various fellowships, including TWAS, C.V. Raman Fellowships, and DST-ISRF, among others.

Guidelines for the visiting Foreign Researcher

CSIR-CDRI ISTAG is committed to maintaining the highest standards in both research and training, ensuring international scholars have an exceptional experience at CSIR-CDRI. It provides dedicated support to international scholars in conducting their work through international fellowships and scholarships at the institute.

Candidates are expected to review and adhere to the provided guidelines and may be required to sign an undertaking prior to their arrival.

For further information or assistance, please contact the ISTAG team at CSIR-CDRI.

Prerequisites for Fellowships As a general requirement for international fellowships, candidates shall first secure a ‘Letter of Acceptance’ from our institute. Interested candidates are encouraged to:

Contact a Scientist: Approach a scientist at CSIR-CDRI, providing a recent CV and a project proposal relevant to their area of expertise. For details on scientists’ expertise, please visit the scientist profiles under the 'People' tab on this website.

Obtain Consent: Seek consent from the scientist to conduct the proposed research in their laboratory.

Communicate with ISTAG: Once the consent is obtained, communicate this information to CSIR-CDRI ISTAG, for further processing and issuance of the Letter of Acceptance.

The pre-issued 'Letter of Acceptance' could be used for Visa formalities. In case of re-issue with revised dates, the CSIR-CDRI ISTAG will assist towards the same.

Typically, the funding agency is responsible for arranging the candidate's travel expenses. It is essential to notify the institute well in advance regarding the candidate's itinerary. Please note that self-financed proposals and visits are generally not encouraged.

The candidate is free to choose their own accommodation.

If the candidate wishes to reside on campus, they must submit a request to the CSIR-CDRI ISTAG. Subject to availability, the institute will arrange accommodation for the candidate.

Please note that if the candidate chooses to stay on campus, they will be responsible for cooking, washing, and cleaning themselves.

The candidate must visit the FRRO in Lucknow (http://www.immigrationindia.nic.in/) immediately upon arrival, with the necessary documents for verification. For contact details, refer to the FRRO contact list here: http://mha1.nic.in/pdfs/FRROContactList.pdf
